Acupuncture is done today in hospitals all over China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Asia, alongside Western medicine. It incorporates nutrition, herbal medicine, and exercise

like Tai Chi, and Yoga.

Why would the Chinese and most Asian countries keep a system of health care for

over 2000 years if it doesn't work?

Here are two models showing the pathways of the Acupuncture channels found on the hands and the body.

These channels are commonly known as meridians they are found on the front, back,

head, legs and feet of the body.

When I started studying Traditional Acupuncture some of the theory and text books

were over 2000 years old, as a result theory and concepts are related to the natural

world which was their only source of comparison at that time.

For instance all organ pairs are given names and attributes of elements found in nature, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, this is known as 5 Element Theory.

Qi is energy produced by the Organs from the jobs they do in the body like digestion, circulation of blood, water management.

Normally Qi flows through the Organs and Acupuncture channels in a balanced even

flow, Disruption of  the flow of Qi can be caused by physical, mental, emotional trauma

or stress this can cause symptoms can occur at the time of the incident or later on in life.

The Acupuncture channels have points along their length which act like gates and can

be used to adjust the flow of Qi to try and restore harmony to the the Organ and

channel system, encouraging the body to heal itself.

The flow of Qi can be influenced by lots of techniques; I tend to use Acupuncture

Needles,  Moxabustion, Cupping and Magnets - please see the relevant pages for

more information.
